Next-Gen Rail CR450 Flying Dragon Enters Service.

China’s high-speed rail network, already the world’s largest at over 46,000 km, reached a new technical milestone this quarter with the commercial rollout of the CR450 bullet train. The CR450 has a top operating speed of 400 km/h (approx. 250 mph), reducing the travel time between Beijing and Shanghai to roughly 2.5 hours. Despite being faster, the new model is 10% lighter and consumes 20% less energy than its predecessors (the CR400 series) due to a more aerodynamic dragon-inspired design and advanced water-cooled traction systems. The fleet is equipped with over 2,000 sensors that create a digital twin in real-time, allowing AI-driven predictive maintenance to address mechanical issues before they occur.
