Frozen Harvest at Chagan Lake.

In Northeast China, the village residents around Chagan Lake are currently in the middle of their Winter Fishing Festival. They use a centuries-old technique where horses pull massive winches to haul kilometer-long nets from under the ice. While it started as a way to survive the brutal winters, it has transformed into a high-tech tourism event. This year, they’ve added 5G-powered drones to livestream the silvery frenzy of the catch to millions of viewers, blending ancient survival skills with modern digital culture.
