Health authorities have intensified a nationwide epidemiological alert following a sharp increase in measles cases across all 32 Mexican states. By early February 2026, cumulative confirmed cases have surpassed 7,400, with the first death of the year recently reported in Michoacán. The Ministry of Health is currently deploying millions of vaccine doses to bridge immunity gaps, particularly in high-density urban areas like Jalisco and Mexico City, as the country works to maintain its disease-free certification from the World Health Organization.
