Mexico Invests Safe Pathways for Three States.

The Mexican government is investing 1.622 billion pesos to construct 562 kilometers of "Senderos Seguros" (Safe Pathways) across the Estado de México, Sonora, and Michoacán between 2025 and 2026. This initiative, coordinated by the SICT, aims to improve public safety and gender equity by installing LED lighting, urban murals, and accessible sidewalks in high-density areas. The bulk of the project is focused on the Estado de México, where 1.5 billion pesos will fund 500 kilometers of pathways across 10 municipalities, while Sonora and Michoacán will receive targeted investments to protect women and pedestrians in specific local communities.
