40-Hour Historic Labor Reform.
Mexico passed a landmark bill to overhaul its labor laws, moving toward a 40-hour workweek. Historically, Mexico has had some of the longest working hours among developing nations, with a standard 48-hour week. The bill, supported by the ruling Morena party, seeks to improve work-life balance and worker dignity. While business groups expressed concerns about productivity, labor leaders argued that productivity is built with dignity, not exhaustion. The reduction is designed to be incremental, aiming for full implementation by 2030 to allow the domestic economy to adjust to the new shifts in manual and service labor.
