Farmers Strike Announced.
Mexican agricultural producers have announced a major national strike set to begin on March 23rd. Farmers are demanding the establishment of an agricultural development bank and guaranteed fair prices for their crops. Protests are expected to block major transit points, including the Pan-American Highway and rail lines connecting Ciudad Juárez to central Mexico. Organizers have even threatened to disrupt upcoming World Cup preparations if their demands for dialogue with federal authorities are not met.
