Formal negotiations for the USMCA trade deal have officially begun in Washington. A notable development in this round is the start of discussions between Mexico and the United States without Canada's immediate participation. Simultaneously, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico has been active in reassuring Mexican officials and business leaders of continued cooperation, despite recent tensions and the ongoing repatriation of nearly 190,000 Mexican citizens since the start of the current U.S. administration.
