In the mountains of Guerrero, a growing vigilante movement of civilians has taken up arms with AK-47s and grenades to defend their communities. The group was formed to resist La Nueva Familia Michoacana, a cartel recently designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. Residents report the cartel has been using drones and setting up fentanyl labs in their territory. President Claudia Sheinbaum is facing increasing pressure to address the violence following the recent death of the powerful cartel leader known as "El Mencho."
