In a major international law enforcement victory, former Canadian Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding was arrested in Mexico City on January 22, 2026. Wedding, who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics, is accused of leading a vast, multi-billion dollar drug trafficking ring linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. He faces charges for trafficking over 60 metric tons of cocaine and orchestrating multiple murders. The FBI credited the arrest to a year-long coordinated effort between the Mexico, Canada, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
