Ancient Cosmogram Unearthed In Tabasco.
Archaeologists have recently completed a major excavation at Aguada Fénix in southeastern Mexico, revealing a massive ritual construction that dates back to approximately 1000 BCE. Using LiDAR technology and radiocarbon dating, researchers identified a cruciform (cross-shaped) pit filled with ceremonial artifacts, including jade axes and ornaments. The site is believed to be a cosmogram—a physical model representing the Mesoamerican order of the universe. This find challenges long-held beliefs that Mesoamerican cities grew slowly; instead, it suggests a big bang of massive, organized construction much earlier than previously thought, driven by collective collaboration rather than a single powerful ruler.
