Switzerland Edges Toward Nuclear Expansion

In a significant shift in national policy, the Federal Council has moved a step closer to lifting the long-standing ban on building new nuclear power plants. Faced with regional energy volatility and the need to meet carbon-neutral goals by 2050, officials are exploring nuclear energy as a stable bridge alongside renewable investments. While the government aims for energy self-reliance, the proposal is expected to face intense scrutiny from environmental groups and may eventually be decided by a national referendum.
