High Avalanche Risk In Ticino Southern Alps.

Following several days of heavy snowfall, Swiss authorities have raised the avalanche danger level to High (Level 4) for large parts of the southern Alps today. The Canton of Ticino and the southern valleys of the Grisons are the most affected. Forecasters warn that even a single skier could trigger large, spontaneous slides due to the unstable fresh snow layers. Authorities have advised against all off-piste activities in the high-altitude regions. This comes at a peak time for the winter season, as resorts like Verbier prepare to host the finals of the Freeride World Tour later this month.
