Alliance On NATO Anniversary.

Marking two years since Sweden officially joined NATO (March 7, 2024), Sweden's Chief of Defense, Gen. Michael Claesson, emphasized that the United States remains the country's really important ally in a high-level interview today. Claesson highlighted Sweden's growing role in Northern European security, specifically citing the recent Arctic Sentry operation and joint defense statements with Finland and Norway. This comes as NATO Allies move toward a 5% of GDP defense spending commitment by 2035, a significant jump from previous targets, driven by the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
