Bacon Trips Reach Record Highs.

Following a surge in border shopping by Norwegians, the Swedish government’s plan to cut food VAT from 12% to 6% is set to take effect on April 1. In anticipation, major Swedish grocery chains near the border have already begun compensating customers for the tax difference as of today. Norwegians spent a record 5.4 billion NOK on food in Sweden during the first half of last year alone. The tax cut aims to further lower domestic food prices, which are already significantly cheaper than in neighboring Norway, where food is taxed at 15%.
