Women’s Month Calls for Babaylan Leadership.

During the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) has urged Filipinas to embrace the spirit of the Babaylans the spiritual and community leaders of pre-colonial Philippine society. The campaign, under the theme Lead like the Babaylans, highlights that women’s leadership is a fundamental part of Filipino identity. As the Philippines chairs ASEAN this year, officials are emphasizing the importance of gender mainstreaming and reclaiming the legacy of women as healers, guides, and influential decision-makers in both governance and regional cooperation.
