Response To The Rodriguez Landfill Disaster.

A major garbage landslide occurred at a private landfill in Rodriguez, Rizal (Sitio 1B Harangan). The disaster, which follows a similar tragedy in Cebu earlier this year, prompted Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares to call for a formal probe by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Early reports indicate the collapse was likely caused by poor compaction and high leachate levels following heavy rains. In response, the Climate Change Commission (CCC) has called for systemic reform in waste management and is partnering with local governments to boost urban climate resilience across the Greater Manila Area.
