Streamlining The National Infrastructure Budget.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has moved to significantly reduce its budget for the 2026 fiscal year to improve transparency and fiscal discipline. The approved budget of ₱530.89 billion is nearly 40% lower than the initial proposal. A major factor in this reduction was the removal of over ₱263 billion in locally funded flood control projects that were deemed vulnerable to misuse or overlapping. Despite these cuts, the government is prioritizing key Legacy projects, including the Panglao–Tagbilaran City Offshore Bridge Connector, the Fourth Cebu–Mactan Bridge, Major railway expansions linking Metro Manila to northern and southern Luzon provinces.
