Two major legal stories are dominating the domestic political landscape this month. Former President Rodrigo Duterte has been transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague to face trial regarding his administration's anti-drug campaign. Recent hearings in late February confirmed his fitness to stand trial. A House panel has been deliberating on the sufficiency of impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte. Simultaneously, the VP has officially announced her intention to run for the Presidency in 2028, setting an early stage for the next election cycle.
