Energy Crisis Metro Manila Shifts to 4-Day Workweek.

In response to a global oil supply crisis triggered by escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Philippine government and several Local Government Units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have officially adopted a four-day workweek. The shift aims to reduce electricity consumption in government offices and ease the financial burden of commuting on employees as fuel prices see double-digit hikes. The Senate is currently prioritizing a bill to grant President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emergency powers to suspend or reduce fuel excise taxes, a move intended to cushion the blow for the transport sector and low-income families.
