Major Transport Upgrades & Libreng Sakay.

The month of March brings both infrastructure investments and special services for commuters. The Department of Finance (DOF) secured ₱8.2 billion in funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the third tranche of the MRT-3 rehab. This project will upgrade tracks and signaling, with a goal of transitioning to four-car trains to accommodate nearly 400 more passengers per trip by 2027. To celebrate Women’s Month, the MRT-3 and LRT-2 offered Libreng Sakay (Free Rides) for female passengers during peak hours (7-9 AM and 5-7 PM) on March 8 and 9.
