Red Flag Gun Law Reaches House.

A significant legislative battle is unfolding tomorrow, March 25, as the House Committee on Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs takes up Senate Bill 2575. This bill aims to dramatically toughen Hawaii’s red flag laws (Gun Violence Protective Orders). It would elevate the illegal possession or transfer of a firearm while under a protective order from a misdemeanor to a Class A felony. If passed, violators could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years without parole and a lifetime ban on firearm possession.
