Prince Kūhiō Day With Celebrations.

Despite the recent storm cleanup, Hawaii is preparing to observe Prince Kūhiō Day this Thursday, March 26. This state holiday honors Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole, known as the Citizen Prince for his work in establishing the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act. While some parades have been adjusted due to road conditions from the floods, several cultural ceremonies and hula performances are moving forward to celebrate his legacy. This marks the beginning of Hawaii’s spring festival season, which typically leads into the world-famous Merrie Monarch Hula Festival starting after Easter Sunday.
