The Lunar New Year Digital Choreography.

The 2026 Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) has seen a record-breaking 9.5 billion passenger trips across China. To manage the social atmosphere of this mass migration, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) launched a specific campaign this month to shape online discourse. The regulator is targeting AI-generated content and social media posts that amplify anxiety about childbirth or fear of marriage. This is part of a broader effort to address demographic shifts and encourage family growth. The government has issued over 360 million yuan in consumer vouchers to stimulate domestic spending during the holiday. While traditional visits remain the norm, a new service called proxy visits has gained popularity allowing people to hire couriers to perform traditional kowtowing rituals for elderly relatives via livestream if they cannot travel home.
