The 2026 Lunar Acceleration.
The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) has officially accelerated its timeline for a manned lunar landing, with 2026 serving as the critical infrastructure year for the mission. China is developing a two-launch strategy using the Long March 10 heavy-lift rocket to send the Lanyue lunar lander and Mengzhou spacecraft separately into lunar orbit for docking. This year, the Wenchang Space Launch Center is undergoing massive expansions to house new launch pads. Additionally, the Tiangong Space Station is scheduled for two manned missions and one cargo resupply in 2026 to test long-term life support systems needed for the moon. For the first time, payload specialists from Hong Kong and Macau have been selected for the astronaut corps and are expected to participate in orbital missions starting this year.
