Beijing issued a stern warning this Thursday (March 26) following news that a U.S.-led partnership is considering building a new ammunition production line in the Philippines. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian warned that the region should not be turned into a powder keg, stating that such moves would backfire. This comes as China continues to ramp up its maritime surveillance, recently deploying advanced satellite technology to monitor the ocean floor in disputed waters.
