Rescue Operations in the South China Sea.

The Chinese coastguard and Southern Theater Command have been actively involved in a rescue mission following the capsizing of the Devon Bay, a Singapore-flagged cargo vessel. The ship, which had 21 Filipino sailors on board, went down near the Scarborough Shoal (known in China as Huangyan Dao) early Friday morning. As of today, 17 sailors have been pulled from the water; 15 were rescued alive, while 2 were confirmed dead. Four others remain missing. The incident highlights the complex maritime coordination in disputed waters, as both Chinese and Philippine vessels have deployed assets to the site for the search and rescue effort.
