In a morning phone call today, President Xi Jinping spoke with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss global governance and bilateral ties. A major topic of interest is the newly proposed "Board of Peace". China has officially received an invitation to join the Board and is currently calibrating its response. During the call, both leaders emphasized the importance of "multilateralism" and maintaining the central role of the UN. This comes as the World Economic Forum in Davos concludes, where Chinese officials, including Vice Premier He Lifeng, advocated for free trade and "win-win cooperation" amidst rising global protectionism.
