Record-Long Lunar New Year Boosts Domestic Spending.

China’s nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, the longest in the country's history, concluded with a massive surge in domestic travel. Data released today by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism shows that domestic trips reached 596 million, a nearly 19% increase from the previous year. Total tourism spending hit approximately 803.5 billion yuan. While major sites like the Great Wall were packed, a notable trend this year was the rise of New Year flavor trips to smaller, lower-tier cities where travelers sought traditional folk activities and local festivals.
