Population Falls For Fourth Year.
New data confirms that China’s population declined again in 2025, dropping by 3.39 million to a total of 1.405 billion. The birthrate has hit a record low of 5.63 per 1,000 people, as marriages fell by 20% over the last year. To combat this, the government has launched a nationwide subsidy program that has already provided over 1.05 million seniors with vouchers for elderly care. Starting this year, national insurance will also cover all pregnancy and IVF costs to encourage young couples to start families.
