Energy Support To Southeast Asia.
Directly following the disruptions in the Gulf, China has shifted its focus toward its neighbors. Today, Beijing expressed a readiness to work with Southeast Asian countries to address emerging energy shortages. This move follows a Chinese ban on its own exports of diesel and gasoline to protect its domestic market. Interestingly, this energy diplomacy has led to a rare moment of cooperation with the Philippines, as both nations set aside recent South China Sea maritime disputes to discuss energy security.
