Discovery Of 6,000-Year-Old Industrial Workshop.
Archaeologists at the Doushan site in Jiangsu Province have uncovered a Neolithic stone spindle whorl workshop, providing evidence of large-scale production far earlier than previously recorded. The site, which dates back to the Majiabang Culture, contains over 300 spindle whorls and unfinished blanks. Because the volume of tools exceeds the needs of a single settlement, researchers believe this was a dedicated production hub used for primitive trade between tribes. The discovery marks the Doushan site as one of the oldest urban centers in the Yangtze River Basin, shedding light on the organized craftsmanship of ancient civilizations
