Code Taken into Effect With Enviroment.
China’s top legislature passed a landmark Ecological and Environmental Code, set to take effect in August. This is the first time the country has consolidated its disparate environmental laws into one comprehensive legal framework. It dedicates an entire chapter to green and low-carbon development, providing a permanent legal basis for carbon peaking goals. The code arrives as the country sets a target to reduce carbon intensity and aims to double non-fossil energy capacity within the next decade. For the first time, solar generation has officially overtaken wind as the primary source of new renewable power in the national grid.
