China Zorrilla Electric Ferry Passes Power Tests.
The China Zorrilla, a 130-meter fully electric catamaran built by Incat Tasmania, has successfully completed its first power-up and engine trials in Hobart. Designed for the Buenos Aires–Colonia route, the vessel features a massive 40 MWh energy storage system powering eight waterjets, allowing it to carry 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles at speeds of up to 25 knots. Originally planned for LNG, the ship was reconfigured to be 100% electric, making it a global milestone for sustainable fluvial transport when it enters service later this year.
