China Plans 200,000 New Satellites for Orbit.

China has filed a request with the International Telecommunication Union to launch two massive satellite megaconstelations, CTC-1 and CTC-2, totaling nearly 200,000 units. This ambitious plan aimed at Low Earth Orbit (LEO) would exponentially increase the current global satellite count, which currently stands at roughly 12,000. While the exact purpose of these satellites remains unknown, the move signals China’s intent to dominate orbital infrastructure and secure frequency spectrums before the space environment becomes too crowded, challenging the current lead held by SpaceX’s Starlink.
