China Probes Food Delivery Monopolies.

China’s market regulator has launched an antitrust investigation into the food delivery platform sector to curb unfair competition practices, such as excessive subsidies and price wars. While acknowledging the industry's role in job creation and innovation, authorities noted that "involutionary" competition has pressured the real economy and triggered social concern. The evaluation—which includes field inspections and interviews with merchants, workers, and consumers—aims to restore market order based on service quality rather than predatory pricing. Consequently, officials have called on platforms to cooperate with the probe and transition toward a more sustainable and legally compliant business model.
