Mexico has kicked off 2026 with a historic milestone in its travel sector. The country welcomed 8.84 million international visitors, the highest monthly total ever recorded. While traditional hubs like Cancún and the Riviera Maya remain popular, there is a marked surge in cultural tourism in regions like Oaxaca and Guadalajara. The growth is being attributed to upgraded infrastructure and a successful push to attract travelers from South America, Europe, and Asia, diversifying the visitor base away from its traditional reliance on North American markets.
