Following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), in late February, security remains the top national priority. While major unrest has subsided, the government has launched "Plan Kukulkán," a massive security operation involving nearly 100,000 personnel. This initiative is designed to ensure safety ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with a focus on host cities like Guadalajara and Mexico City.
