Mexico Falls Behind.
By 2026, Mexico is projected to suffer an economic stagnation that leaves it trailing far behind its Central American neighbors. While Costa Rica and Honduras are poised to dominate with a robust 3.9% growth rate, analysts from ECLAC (CEPAL) and the OECD expect Mexico to struggle with a meager 1.2% to 1.3% expansion. This widening gap is driven by a sharp decline in domestic consumption as the World Cup is taking more than half of the economy that needs to be put back.
