Mexico Defies Tariffs.

Despite the imposition of tariffs by the Trump administration, Mexico has solidified its position as the top trade partner to the United States, reaching a record-breaking $48.5 billion in exports in October 2025. This success is largely attributed to the USMCA (T-MEC), as 87.4% of Mexican goods meet strict rules of origin, allowing the vast majority of products to enter the U.S. duty-free or with a minimal effective tariff. With a 17.7% market share, Mexico significantly outperforms competitors like Canada and China, maintaining a strategic advantage as the three nations approach the 2026 treaty review, where the primary challenge will be preserving this preferential access amidst U.S. political pressure.
