Historic Judicial Elections And The 100-Day World Cup Countdown.
Mexico is entering a unique period where sports and civic reform are converging. Following the sweeping constitutional amendments of late 2024, Mexico is preparing for the next phase of its popular election of judges. This internal overhaul is fundamentally changing how the Supreme Court and federal courts operate, with the first major rounds of these elections having just taken place. On March 1, Mexico officially hit the 100-day countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Despite the recent security flares in Jalisco, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and President Sheinbaum have reaffirmed that the opening match at the Estadio Azteca on June 11 remains on track. Massive renovation projects are being completed in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara to prepare for the record-breaking 48-team tournament.
