Cargo Sous Terrain First Milestone.

In a major leap for 2026, the first operational segment of the Cargo Sous Terrain (CST)—Switzerland’s ambitious underground automated logistics system—has successfully connected a major distribution hub in Härkingen to Zurich. This subterranean highway uses small, autonomous electric pods traveling at 30 km/h to transport pallets and crates, effectively removing thousands of heavy trucks from the A1 motorway. The success of this pilot has triggered the next phase of construction, which aims to link the entire Swiss plateau from Geneva to St. Gallen by 2045, drastically reducing urban noise and carbon emissions.
