Behind-the-Meter Battery Storage Surges 400%.

According to the latest Battery Monitor Switzerland 2026 report by Swissolar, the country has seen a massive 400% increase in private battery storage installations over the last four years. Swiss households, farms, and businesses now account for roughly 1.5 GWh of storage capacity. While large-scale utility batteries are still catching up, the decentralization of the power grid is moving rapidly; 95% of residential installers cite self-consumption optimization as the primary driver. To support this, the industry is now calling for a national storage strategy to harmonize the currently fragmented cantonal regulations.
