Sweden Leads Shadow Fleet.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) Summit to coordinate a major offensive against Russia’s shadow fleet—the aging tankers used to bypass international sanctions. Sweden has taken a leadership role in disruptive maritime actions, with the UK now planning similar interdictions in the English Channel. This meeting follows the conclusion of Exercise Cold Response 2026 (March 9–20), where over 30,000 NATO troops trained in the Arctic. It was one of the first major rehearsals of NATO’s revised defense plans since Sweden and Finland joined the alliance, focusing on the "High North" security.
