Resurrection Of Skellefteå.
In a move that has saved Sweden’s "Battery Valley" from collapse, American battery startup Lyten officially completed its acquisition of the bankrupt Northvolt operations this month. Lyten is transforming the former Northvolt Ett site into the "Lyten Industrial Hub." While Northvolt struggled with traditional lithium-ion production, Lyten plans to restart the facility in 2026 focusing on next-generation lithium-sulfur batteries. In a unique twist, Lyten has partnered with EdgeConneX to co-locate a massive 1 GW AI data center campus at the site. This allows the hub to balance high-energy manufacturing with high-demand digital infrastructure, all powered by local hydroelectricity.
