Honest Living Bill For Migrants.
The Swedish government announced a major legislative proposal today that would allow for the deportation of migrants who fail to adhere to an honest living. This is part of a broader push by the right-wing coalition to tighten immigration rules ahead of the September elections. Under the bill, residence permits could be revoked for behaviors that aren't necessarily criminal but are deemed deficient character, such as cheating the benefits system, accumulating unpaid debts, or having links to violent extremism. If passed by Parliament, these new regulations are expected to go into effect on July 13, 2026.
