Government Pivots To Nuclear Power Expansion.

The Swedish government has announced a major advancement in its fossil-free energy transition, shifting focus toward nuclear energy. Developers for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), including the firm Blykalla, have moved into the formal permitting phase for a new reactor park in Norrsundet. To accelerate these projects, the government is introducing a new financing model featuring state-backed loans totaling approximately $24 billion (220 billion SEK) over the next 12 years. This policy change aims to provide the stable, dispatchable power needed for Sweden's industrial sectors in the south.
