Thousands Join Women's Strike for International Women's Day.

Ahead of International Women's Day on March 8, 2026, a coalition of 22 labor and human rights groups organized a nationwide Women's Strike. Thousands of participants gathered in central Seoul to protest persistent gender inequality and the invisible labor that disproportionately falls on women. Activists are calling for the recognition of unpaid care and emotional labor, which they argue sustains society but is ignored in official statistics. The coalition is demanding a ban on workplace discrimination, stronger protections for migrant and domestic workers, and the enactment of a comprehensive anti-discrimination law.
