South Korea Launches Major Immigration Strategy Overhaul.
The Ministry of Justice recently unveiled a long-term immigration roadmap to combat the nation’s shrinking workforce and record-low birth rate. The government is introducing a K-Core visa specifically designed to train and recruit foreign workers with intermediate technical skills for the manufacturing sector. Eligibility for high-tech visas will be expanded to include foreign professors and researchers in fields like AI, robotics, and semiconductors. To prevent rural depopulation, the plan includes incentives for foreigners to settle outside of Seoul, including childcare services and entrepreneurship support.
