South Korea Unveils Private-Sector Space Roadmap.

This February, the newly established Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) finalized its R&D roadmap, signaling a massive shift from government-led to private-led space exploration. The government has pledged over 949 billion won for 2026, specifically targeting the development of a domestic lunar lander. Following the success of the Nuri rocket, South Korea is now funding private companies to build their own launch vehicle engine test facilities. The goal is to create a K-Space ecosystem similar to the commercial satellite hubs found in Europe and Japan. On February 17, the GEO-KOMPSAT-2A satellite made headlines by capturing high-definition footage of an annular solar eclipse over Antarctica, demonstrating South Korea's growing capability in global climate and space monitoring.
