Medical Strike Officially Ends.

After nearly two years of severe disruptions, the historic South Korean medical crisis has officially reached a conclusion. Thousands of resident doctors and medical students have agreed to return to hospitals and universities following a series of successful negotiations with the administration of President Lee Jae-myung. The government has officially restored the annual medical school admission cap to 3,058 for 2026, meeting a key demand of the medical community. While the strikes have ended, the Ministry of Health is now beginning the logistical task of reintegrating thousands of trainees, particularly in critical fields like pediatrics and emergency medicine, which still face significant staffing shortfalls.
